A Message from our Chief

Since 1973

Thank you for visiting our website. The Heber-Overgaard Fire District has a proud history of serving our community. That spirit of service continues as we move forward into the future. We are committed to providing the highest levels of service possible.

The Mission of the Heber-Overgaard Fire District is “To serve the people and to protect lives and property by providing fire, rescue, and emergency medical services.” These words summarize what we do, but it is the men and women of the Heber-Overgaard Fire District that really make the difference – they exemplify these words on a daily basis.

The Heber-Overgaard Fire District is an “All Hazards” department, meaning we will respond to the needs of the communities of Heber-Overgaard, regardless of the nature of the incident. As first responders, we begin the process of solving the problem to lead to a positive outcome. The Heber-Overgaard Fire District is comprised of specialists in the areas of structural firefighting, wildland firefighting, emergency medical care and transportation, hazardous materials response, urban search and rescue, and swift water and flood rescue.

Every member of the District is certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or a certified Paramedic. Emergency medical service and transportation accounts for most of our workload and the Heber-Overgaard Fire District is a regional leader in pre-hospital emergency care recognized by the Arizona Department of Health Services as a Premiere EMS Agency since February of 2019.

It is an absolute honor to serve with these men and women and to be able to represent such a fine organization. I am routinely impressed by the compassion and resourcefulness of the personnel of our District and their commitment to the residents, businesses, and visitors of our District. We continually seek ways to be more efficient, more adaptable, and more responsive to the needs of our communities.  We stand ready to assist you in your time of need – day or night – with compassion, professionalism, respect, and dignity.

Chief William D. McCluskey
