Mike Brewer is an Arizona Native and came to the community of Heber Overgaard as a professional firefighter in July 2001 as a FF/EMT for the Heber-Overgaard Fire District. He has been a resident since 2001 and a property owner since 2005. He went to work full time for the Mesa Fire Dept. in March 2005 and remained with HOFD as a Reserve FF Paramedic until May 2010. He was then selected by the HOFD Fire Board to serve as the Interim Deputy Fire Chief until a new Fire Chief could be found. He was later appointed as the official Deputy Fire Chief while still working full time for the Mesa Fire Dept. until the Deputy Chief position was dissolved in May 2012. He is a seasoned fire service veteran and has deep ties to the community of Heber-Overgaard and was present during the Rodeo Chediski Firefight to help save our community. Elected to the HOFD Fire Board in November 2014 he has continued the tradition of serving this community as a fiscal conservative ensuring that we get the most bang for the buck by helping to manage our tax dollars wisely. He also has the knowledge and experience to ensure the Heber Overgaard Fire District is managed effectively to provide the most efficient Fire and Emergency Medical Services available to our residents and visitors every day.
Greetings my name is Mark Dahl, I am an Arizona native born in Phoenix in 1969. I am the oldest son of three to Larry and Lorie Dahl. Growing up we vacationed in the White Mountains every July camping and fishing at our favorite location, Big Lake. That’s where my love for the Mountain started.
In 1988 I joined the Marine Corps and served 8 years. I found a second calling while serving and started college to study Fire Science. My passion for helping people grew into the career I have enjoyed to this day 29 years later. I am currently a Firefighter for the City of Scottsdale Fire Department and let me share, there is no greater feeling than being able to help someone on their worst day. During my career I was fortunate to work with now retired Fire Chief William Dee McClusky and grew a lifelong relationship.
Fast forward to today and being blessed on our way home vacation in from Big Lake. We found a property for sale here in Overgaard and put in an offer. In 2019 we purchased the property we currently reside in where I share with my wife April and three of our combined five children, two horses, and the Mayor of Tall Timbers Park our dog “Charlie”.
I’ve met a lot of great people in the short time being here. I was approached by Chief McClusky about an idea that was about to become reality in 2021. That was Heber Overgaard Community Resource Network, “HOCRN”. Having served my entire life, I felt it was a good fit for me to run for the board and serve my community. On February 2nd, 2022, at 2:00 PM that dream of a couple amazing people became a reality for five of us which has grown to seven in just a short years’ time. Amazing things can happen when a community comes together for a common goal to help one another.
I was fortunate to see the opening on the Fire Board in 2022 and was selected to serve. I look to support our new Fire Chief Jason Payne, his vision, his staff, and the community of Heber-Overgaard fiscally for years to come.
